Now that I work from home full-time, I find myself wearing a lot of outfits that I would consider “casual everyday outfits.”
These outfits are not only great for those of you who are working from home, but they are also great weekend outfits, errand outfits, movie-date outfits, casual party outfits, dinner outfits and site-seeing outfits. And sometimes, these simple outfits can be the hardest to come up with.
Hopefully, sharing my everyday outfit ideas will provide outfit inspiration that you can recreate using pieces in your wardrobe. If you happen to love something I am wearing, I have also linked exact and similar items I have found second-hand online and tips for how to search for these items on second-hand platforms (because at this point, almost anything you could want is available second-hand). I have tried to include items of every, when possible, but I can only link 25 items per carousel, and it can be hard to find an item in every size when shopping second-hand.
Casual Everyday Outfits:
Casual Winter Outfits:
I wish I had thought of this combination when it was still cooler outside, but hey, at least I already have outfits planned for next season! This is a perfect work-from-home or casual date night look.
Recreate this look with any pair of cargo pants and a boxy cut sweater or sweatshirt from your closet!
This sweatshirt is from a local boutique, and I purchased it and the TopShop bag back in 2018. The exact bag is available on Poshmark, and you can find similar items online by searching “snake print hobo bag.” Add the word “TopShop” if you are looking for my exact bag.
Pro-tip: If you are Google searching for second-hand items, try typing “used” or the name of your favorite resale site after the keywords.
Casual Spring Outfits:
My mom found this Free People sweatshirt and recently passed it on to me. It’s been a go-to piece for running errands or going to work at a coffee shop.
You can find my exact sweatshirt on resale websites like Poshmark by searching terms like “Free People Piper Pullover” and “Free People eyelet lace cropped hooded pullover sweatshirt cream.” My Raybans are linked here, and my Birkenstocks are linked here. You can find similar pants secondhand by search terms, including “green wide leg painter pants” on platforms like Poshmark, Ebay and Depop.
This J-Crew tulle sleeve top is from my super preppy phase back in 2017, but I’ve been styling it more and more recently. By pairing it with a thrifted pair of oversized pair of jeans, I am able to dress down the top and make the outfit feel a little more current. If you are having a hard time styling pieces you have in your wardrobe from years ago, try pairing them with current favorites to make the outfit feel more true to your personal style!
This outfit can also easily work as a casual fall or winter outfit by swapping out the Rainbows for sneakers and adding a leather jacket.
My top is available for as low as $13 on resale websites, such as Poshmark and eBay, and you can find it by searching “J Crew striped tulle sleeve top.” My pants are thrifted, and I purchased them two sizes up to achieve a baggier fit.
I thrifted this blue and white striped long-sleeve tee about two years ago. At first, I only thought of it as a coastal-preppy beach top. Which, given the fact that I live in the Midwest, doesn’t give me much opportunity to wear it. Since I am making an effort to get more wear out of the pieces in my wardrobe, I challenged myself to style it for my day-to-day life. I realized that pairing it with contrasting pieces (like cargo pants) made it more wearable.
This bag is a vintage Gap bag, and search terms like “black nylon buckle bag vintage” may bring up similar items. My shoes are Rainbows (I am bringing them back) that I found on Poshmark!
Casual Summer Outfits:
Who remembers when this blouse was on alllll the blogs in 2017 (including my old blog)?
I’ve mostly just worn this top for work in the past few years, but I’ve recently realized that I love the contrast of it styled with cargo pants! One of my biggest tips for styling pieces to match your style is to pair the item with a contrasting piece you love.
I wore this look working from home and also to a baby shower later that day!
This bag is by a brand called Belier Belier, and I found it second-hand at Dress Raleigh. This top is by the Nordstrom brand B.P. from years ago. Keywords such as “white eyelet top flutter sleeve” may help you find a similar piece or the exact top second-hand! These pants are thrifted Forever 21, and search terms such as “wide leg cargo denim” may bring up similar items. Below are a few similar second-hand finds.
I thrifted these cream wide-leg pants, and I’m 99.99% sure that they are karate pants.
My exact top is available on Poshmark and ThredUp. You can find it and similar tops second-hand by searching “Universal Thread long sleeve red gauze top.” The exact karate pants are a little harder to find online. Searches like “cream wide-leg drawstring pants” bring up similar items.
Like the blue and white striped top from before, I used to only think of this top as beachwear. So, here is your reminder to wear those nautical and linen tops for a casual summer look for any occasion!
This top is from Maidson Boutique in Raleigh, NC. I heard they brought it back this year, but I don’t live in the area anymore, so don’t hold me to it. The denim shorts are thrifted, and I recommend sizing up if you want to mimic this fit.
Casual Fall Outfits:
This is such a simple outfit, but I always find that when picking out an outfit for a casual occasion, I blank. So hopefully, if you already have these pieces in your wardrobe, this will help you put together a last-minute outfit!
This bag was gifted to me by Saks off Fifth back in 2017. You can find it second-hand online by searching “Longchamp Penelope tote.” You can find similar cardigans (and even cuter cardigans) online by searching “chunky knit button cardigan.” Find similar pants by searching “chambray wide-leg pants” or “wide-leg jeans.” I linked a few of my favorite second-hand finds below!
I love this combination for spring, but I also think it would make a perfect casual fall outfit. You can easily re-create this outfit with a variety of pieces you already have in your closet. The formula is simple: any pants, a basic top, a jacket and sneakers.
This leather jacket is thrifted from Banana Republic, and I found this tank for $0.99 at the thrift store.
These pants were a guilty-pleasure impulse purchase at Target (but I have been loving them). Find these pants on eBay by searching “Fe Noel x Target Womens Yoke High Rise Pants Khaki.” I have linked the exact pairs I could find below! I would size down if you are in between sizes! There are also similar second-hand and vintage leather jackets linked below.
