With all the gift guides floating around out there, it can be hard to know which recommendations to trust. In this post, I highlight items I own and love that I think would make great gifts for her – with only a few indicated similar links when the exact item could not be found.

Ask Them What They Want
Before I jump into the items on my list, my first suggestion is to ask them what they want. It may seem like that takes a little bit of the surprise out of gift-giving, but it’s important to get people what they want and need – not things they might not want or use. If you are uncertain, ask them for some suggestions or ideas. Even if they are broad ideas, they will give you something to work off of. If they’re more specific ideas, you can always throw in a little something extra as a surprise.
Gift An Experience
My second suggestion that isn’t an exact item is to gift an experience or a trip. For example, my mom got my boyfriend and me tickets to a hockey game last year. My boyfriend and I have also gifted weekend trips to each other before, and we have enjoyed experiences as gifts.
Christmas Gift Guide for Her:
1. Owala
This is basic, but I would not drink water without my Owala cup. My boyfriend got me one as a gift for my birthday, and that is the main reason why I drink water consistently now.
2. Sunglasses
A nice pair of sunglasses is a great gift because it is something people want, but don’t want to spend their own money on. One thing you will have to consider is whether they need a prescription for the glasses or not.
3. Birthstone Necklace
My grandparents gifted me a birthstone necklace (linked similar, not exact) when I was a kid. For years, it was one of those items that stayed tucked away in my sock drawer. Then, in my early twenties, I decided to pull it out and layer it with my other favorite necklaces. Now, I wear it almost every day. It’s become a cherished piece, and I think it is a thoughtful, timeless gift that others will treasure for years.
You could either do their birthstone, or the birthstone of a loved one, like their child if they are a mother.
4. Sentimental Ornament
I am huge on ornaments and Christmas decor. I love unpacking the Christmas decorations each year and seeing memories in all my ornaments. A few years ago, I started a tradition of using ornaments as gift tags. I have loved including this as an extra thoughtful touch on each present.
After we moved into our first apartment together, my boyfriend got me an ornament similar to this one that had the address for our first apartment on it. Funny enough, that year I had done something similar for him. I picked out a wooden door ornament and painted it orange to match the front door in our first apartment (no, I did not have any say in nor the right to change the color of our door at the time).
I also started a tradition where I gift my boyfriend ornaments based on the places we traveled that year. My stepmom also gives us ornaments every Christmas Eve as her tradition. She has done things like the state that I currently live in, my college, something that aligns with one of my key interests that year or something hobby-related, to name a few.
5. Tini Luxe Jewelry
I have sensitive ears, and I have found that Tini Lux is a great earring company that doesn’t bother my ears. I have these little studs and these hoops. I have two sizes of hoops to layer together in my first and second holes, and I love the look of that. One pair of hoops I have had in my ears for over a year straight, and they still look amazing. Their jewelry is in a nice price range and quality where it’s not pure gold, but it’s not cheap and won’t bother your ears or tarnish quickly.
6. L.L. Bean Boat and Tote
The L.L. Bean Boat and Tote bag is a classic that has been around for years and withstood the test of time. I have a size large with long handles and a zip top. This size is perfect for a personal item when flying or for an overnight trip, but the smaller sizes are great for everyday wear. I got mine in classic cream with script navy of my first name. I love it with just my name because it is the most classic and timeless, but if you know a phrase that falls into the ironic boat and tote category that the person you’re gifting will love, that can be a fun option too.
7. AirPods
The next item in my gift guide for her is another basic suggestion – Airpods. As an Apple girlie, I use my AirPods every day and love that they can easily transition between all my Apple products.
8. Golden Goose
If you are looking for a larger gift to give a fashion-lover or modern-day-preppy gal in your life, Golden Goose may be perfect. My mom gifted me Golden Goose a few years ago for Christmas without any prompting or hints from me, and they are one of the best gifts I have ever received. They have become my most worn pair of shoes – to the point that she got me a replacement pair for my birthday this year because mine were worn beyond repair. Golden Goose come in a variety of colors and styles (some being a little too out there for my style), and my mom did a great job by choosing the classic white and gray/silver style.
Pro Tip: It is pretty easy to find Golden Goose on secondhand sites. My mom found my first pair on Poshmark. I found the replacement pair on The RealReal for more than 50% off the retail price. Keep in mind that dupes are out there, so sites that offer authentication, like The RealReal or eBay, might be your preferred platform (Poshmark offers authentication too, but only on items over $500).
9. Name Necklace
I have included most of my everyday jewelry in this gift guide for her. One thing I never take off is my name necklace (linked similar, not exact).
10. Birkenstocks
I know this was a huge trend a few years ago, but I still love my Birkenstocks and slip them on as an easy go-to shoe all the time. I have the Big Buckle Clogs with the large gold buckle, and I got these because they felt more true to my style than the classic Birkenstocks. My boyfriend also recently mentioned that he would like a pair of close-toed Birkenstocks, so that could also be a gift idea for him.
11. Pearl Necklace
I also wear this pearl necklace from Leslie Francesca layered with my name necklace and birthstone necklace. This one I do baby a little because the pearl is more delicate and the outer layer can chip, so I don’t wear this one in the shower or to sleep. I picked this necklace out for Christmas two years ago and have worn it nearly every day since. I love that each fresh pearl is unique and not perfectly shaped.
12. Vejas
If you want something of that Golden Goose style but at a lower price point, Vejas can be a great option. I found mine on Poshmark for $35, and they were in brand-new condition. I love the velcro style, but I know this style can be polarizing, so you may opt to go with the classic laces. Either way, I would go with the leather style instead of the canvas style because they will be easier to keep clean.
13. Gift card to their favorite place
Next on my gift guide for her – a gift card to somewhere you know they love or spend a lot of their money. It could be to their favorite makeup store, coffee place, restaurant, retail store – or even just a Visa gift card that they can use anywhere to get something they want or need.
14. Nice cooking knife
My stepdad got this nice cooking knife for me for Christmas the year before last. Before that, I was using the Amazon chopper so many people love, but I was having a hard time with it! To me, having a nice knife is just so much easier. You do have to take care of it by handwashing it and sharpening it, but I truly think a nice knife in the kitchen is more of a lifesaver in the Amazon chopper.
15. Coffee table book
The next item in my gift guide for her is a coffee table book. I have linked to Worn Stories because it is one of the only coffee table books I have actually read. The book highlights a variety of people sharing one of their favorite pieces in their wardrobe and the story behind it.
Pro Tip: Coffee table books can be pretty expensive, but on Amazon, you can find books secondhand, sometimes for only a few dollars! Check out my tutorial:
16. Kindle or Novel
Staying on the topic of books, a novel from their favorite author, a series they are reading, or one that aligns with their interests can be a great gift.
If they are a reader, or want to become more of a reader, and do not have a Kindle yet, that can be another great gift. I got a Kindle this year and it has honestly influenced me to read a lot more than before. I love that I can lie in bed with it on my side and not worry about which page is up and which is down. I got mine from Unclaimed Baggage for only $32. Unclaimed Baggage tests everything to ensure it works and does a factory reset so it felt like a brand new Kindle to me. I got a Kindle Paperwhite because those are easier to read outside or at the beach or the pool.
A Kindle is also a great idea for grandparents. I got my grandmother an Amazon Fire tablet a few years ago. She’s retired now, so she uses it to look at the internet or play games, and I installed my Kindle app on her tablet so she can read books and use my Kindle Unlimited.
17. Knit set
I love elevated loungewear that makes you feel more put together, especially since I sometimes work from home. My mom and my boyfriend’s mom got me matching knit sets for Christmas last year. I probably wear each at least once a week during the winter season. I also love them when traveling or staying with family because they are great casual outfits that make you feel put together.
18. Heir Raleigh jewelry
Heir Raleigh is one of my favorite jewelry brands – not even including the fact that she also went to NC State and that it’s a small, woman-owned business. I have worn the Vices bracelet and Slink bracelet for three years straight without ever taking them off. Not even for showering, beach trips, working out, etc – and they have held up beautifully. I have pretty sensitive piercings, and Heir Raleigh earrings also don’t bother my ears. This jewelry is in a pretty affordable price range at around $30-60, depending on the item.
My Favorites:
19. Baggu Crescent Bag
I know this trend has been around for a while. I recently bought myself the small Baggu Crescent Bag in the color dove, and I love it. I’m not a belt bag girlie, so I felt this was a good compromise for a casual, easy crossbody that isn’t the Lululemon belt bag. I use it all the time for running errands on the weekends, going on walks, and hiking. For anything more casual, this is now my go-to bag.
20. Uggs
The last item in my gift guide for her is Uggs. Uggs just scream Christmas to me. Even though the styles continue to change, whether the Mini Uggs, the Ultra Mini Uggs or the Tasman Slippers are currently trending, Uggs are such a classic Christmas gift. My mom got me the Ultra Mini Chestnut Uggs for Christmas last year, and I love them.
