I’ve been pinning a lot of outfits with sequin pants on Pinterest lately so in this post, I will be going through a few ways to style a pair of sequin pants that I’ve had for years but haven’t worn enough.
My main objective with styling sequin pants is to try to branch out of the box because when I first got these, the only way I could think to wear them was with a black top. In general, my goal is to stop treating statement pieces as pieces that can only be worn with basics and to start styling them with other pieces that feel aligned with my personal style and add an extra touch to the look.
How To Style Sequin Pants:
With a sweater and a moto jacket:
I am starting super simple with one of the most worn pieces in my closet – this navy sweater. When styling sequin pants, I think the key is to treat them as if they’re jeans. At the end of the day, they’re just plain silver. Treat them as normal pants and style them with pieces that you would normally wear to create outfits that feel authentic to you.
This look could be a great casual holiday look, but what I’m really trying to do is style these pants for everyday wear, and I think you could get away with this look for everyday wear.
With a white tee and a bomber jacket:
Another casual everyday way to style sequin pants is with a white oversized tee. This is so obvious, but this is the kind of basic that I would choose over a tight black long-sleeve top or a tube top. To keep it casual, for the jacket I would probably do this bomber jacket that is in the same tones as the pants.
With a graphic tee:
Another obvious choice that you might not be thinking of is to style the sequin pants with an oversized graphic tee. For this look, I like that the brown contrasts with the silver. If I needed to add a layer, I would do this shearling jacket, which is one of my favorites in the winter.
With an oversized button-down:
This next look is a little bit dressier. I mean, everything’s going to feel a little dressy with the sequin pants as it is, but to dress it down for the daytime, I would carry this bucket bag and opt for sneakers instead of heels. If I were styling it for a nighttime event, I would switch into little heels and do a smaller bag.
With an oversized sweater:
Another easy way to style sequin pants is with an oversized sweater. Since this dark gray sweater is so oversized, I did the little silver heels to elongate my leg and balance out the bulkiness of the top of the look.
In the second look, I am creating a monochromatic look with a light gray sweater.
With a leather blazer:

Back in a white tee with this look, but this time I added a leather blazer and a pair of sparkly statement teardrop earrings that really pull the look together for a holiday event. I’m also carrying this little bag that makes the look feel more nighttime-appropriate.
With a Fair Isle Christmas sweater:
I shared this Christmas party outfit idea last year, but I really like the sequin pants with the Fair Isle sweater because it feels unexpected. I like the contrast of the classic and preppy sweater with the glam sequin pants. This look would be great for a more casual holiday party.
With a statement top:
These next two sequin pants outfit ideas are going to be a little harder to copy because the tops are more unique, but maybe they will inspire you or remind you of something that you already have in your wardrobe that you could style with sequin pants for a holiday party.
I thrifted this sheer button-down with beading and fringe throughout. At first, I had a hard time styling this top, but I really love it around the holiday season.
This second outfit may be a little much when paired together, but this sweater is one of my favorite pieces. I got it at a local boutique around five years ago, and it’s still one of my favorite pieces. I’ve worn it multiple times on New Year’s Day over the last few years.
With cozy layers:

Speaking of New Year’s, this outfit is one that I came up with as a potential look for watching the ball drop, or in Raleigh, it’s the acorn drop, outside. I thought this would be a fun way to still be a little festive while staying warm and keeping it casual with the Uggs. I would probably also do a beanie if it was really cold.
