It’s starting to feel like fall outside which has me really excited for the fall season. One thing that I know I want to try to get more wear out of this fall and winter is my black leather blazer. If you guys are in a similar situation, this post will help you come up with a few leather blazer outfit ideas that you can easily recreate using pieces you already own.
Leather Blazer Outfit Ideas:
Running Errands:

For the first look, I’m sure some of you do not like the mix of the navy sweatshirt with the black blazer, but I do. I think the only situation where you should avoid mixing black and navy is in a dressier look, such as navy dress pants and black shoes. I also think the no mixing black and navy “rule” holds up more these days in the menswear category. But for this look, you could do any sweatshirt with your leather blazer. An oversized sweatshirt would also look cute if your leather blazer is more oversized.
In the second look, I am mixing black and navy again, but you could also do a tan or gray sweater – this navy sweater just happens to be my favorite. I’ve done an oversized vintage white tee (there are a lot of looks with white tees in this post) along with baggy jeans and white sneakers. I have never styled hats much, but I love the look of it and think it helps dress down this outfit. I am wearing a bigger bag with this look because a lot of my smaller bags are more appropriate for night looks.
For a Casual Outing:

The base of this first outfit might feel obvious, but I like it because it’s realistic. It’s something that you guys can easily recreate with pieces you already own, which is my hope for this post. Just the same basic white tee, denim shorts, white sneakers and a leather blazer.
I’ve been hyper-fixated on this Harley Davidson tee this week. In fact, I wore this combination without the leather jacket to a game night last night. I think you could get away with this combination for day or night (this concept is imprinted into my brain since I started blogging back in the day when it was all about transforming looks from to night as if you’re always running straight from the office to drinks). I chose the pink bag because it adds a feminine touch, which makes it more aligned with my style.
To Dinner:

The first look is one of my favorite outfits, but I don’t think I’ve ever worn it in real life. I have taken photos in it numerous times, and I should have worn it when I went to Columbus Fashion Week, but I thought I needed to come up with a new outfit, which is just a terrible mindset. This outfit feels so me. I love this tie-dye maxi dress. It’s from a boutique in Raleigh called Voda, and it is by a brand called Jen’s Pirate Booty.
Back to the white tee with this second look. This time I’m pretending this leather blazer is part of a set with a pair of black leather shorts. You could do any top with this combination, but the idea is to pair it with leather shorts or a leather skirt to create a set.
To Work (Or Working From Home):

Let’s just start by saying: A leather blazer may never be appropriate for the office. It depends on where you work and what the dress code is. If a leather blazer isn’t appropriate – don’t wear one. I am also aware that these looks may be too casual for the office. I am just using what I have and what feels the most true to me since I work from home.
To make the first look more work-appropriate, you could swap out the chambray pants for any work pants (I would go for wide-leg trousers), and swap the sneakers for a ballet flat or heel. This J. Crew tulle sleeve top is one of those things that I have held on to since 2016. I’ve pulled up the jacket sleeves to show off the tulle cuffs. For the bag, I tried to pick something that would match, but when going to the office, I would just grab whatever bag I was using at the moment. It was usually my dark brown Telfar.
I feel a bit of a fraud in the second outfit because I’ve never worn it. I would wear this. It’s just that with the life that I live and working from home, I would style it with jeans. I have these pants from whenever I did work in an office, but if I was dressing for a fancier office, I would probably go for a more fitted button-down than this one.
Going Out:

I really want to wear this first outfit at some point. The top is one of those wrap tops I used to tie all crazy back in 2020 when they were a huge trend. Now, I would wear it as a tube top.
I wanted to show the second look because this is something that I actually wore when I was going out a lot. These white booties were my go-to going-out boots. Nowadays, my feet would start hurting after five minutes in these. A similar story as before with the white tee, it’s very easy – but it just works. I don’t find myself questioning this look like I would others.
This third look is another way I styled this leather blazer for going out. This look works with any mini dress underneath and is super cute in the winter. I don’t know if I would opt for cowgirl boots nowadays, but they are comfortable and great for keeping warm in the winter.
To a Holiday Party:
This first look is how I would style the leather blazer for the holidays. I have had this tweed skirt for years, and I wasn’t sure how I would style it now because I don’t want to lean too far into the Blair Waldorf style, so the leather blazer adds a bit of edge to the look.
Honestly, this second look is so predictable at this point. I want to do a whole post styling sequin pants, but this is how I would style them with the leather blazer. It feels like a cop-out to do the white tee again, but this is honestly what I would do, and I love it like this.
